When cleaning your house with a vacuum cleaner you can save energy by switching the vacuum cleaner off when you move furniture or move the vacuum cleaner itself.

If you do not have a carpet but for instance a wooden floor it is even less polluting and cleaner to clean your floors with a broom. Then you only have to clean the space close to the walls with a vacuum cleaner.

It would be a good if vacuum cleaners consumed less energy, but at the moment it is very difficult to find a vacuum cleaner consuming less than 1000 Watt.
