Electric stairs
People - Dutch administration wasting money

When I was a student I did not have much money. So I frequently bought food at a discount supermarket. This supermarket was so cheap because it cut costs in every possible way. Any other supermarkets had, for example, an electric door at the entrance. This supermarket did not have such a door. It took a little bit of force to enter, but it was worth it and I, and many others got used to this inconvenience soon.

How different is the dutch government. After World War 2 the number of MP's was increased from 100 to 150. Why ? Probably just to employ more people. It was not necessary to build a new parliament, the two-seat banks were simply promoted to be used by three MP's. No problem because our MP's often do not turn up for debates or voting.

This went ok for decades. Then a new generation of MP's started and discovered that the original two seat banks were not big enough for three MP's. Individualisme was probably at its peak and they were fed up sharing sears. They all wanted their own chair. So they decided to build an entirely new parliament.

This parliament has a really nice entrance. Probably with an electric door as well. Ok, there are good reasons why a parliament needs an electric door. But then look at the electric stairs inside the entrance. I see them on TV: they are always moving but nobody seems to use them.

I wish the government was like my old discount supermarket saving costs to the limit. Healthy people can better climb stairs themselves anyway, and for the disabled the elevator is more practical.
