I use the nxml mode as an extra add-on for emacs. After installation the nxml mode may need to be enabled:

• go to "Menu", "Options", "Customize EmacsW32", "Customize nxhtml-load"
• set the Nxhtml load to on: toggle if it was off before.
• Finally save the customization buffer, using C-x C-s.
